U11 Footballers take on Whitechurch – Saturday 20th May

Our U11 footballers travelled to Whitescross earlier today to take on the hosts in very warm conditions. The match was extremely competitive with both teams embracing the tough and physical battle. The lads played some excellent football, taking some excellent scores from a good spread of scorers which was great to see.

Dylan O’Sullivan was in outstanding form in goals today making some top class saves throughout the game. Ross Murray and Cameron Lee were fantastic, keeping their opponent’s quiet, getting out in front of their men, gathering the ball and playing quick ball to the half back line.

Our half backs of Jamie Boylan, Ryan Whyte and Charlie Cremin worked extremely hard denying the forwards easy, clean ball with Jamie and Charlie also finding time to head further up the field for some excellent scores.

Midfielders Rory Walsh and Josh Hannah were excellent, constantly making themselves available as an outlet for the backs and then working the ball up to the forwards while also contributing with some very good scores.

Leon Joyce, Tiernan McCarthy and Max O’Sullivan worked tirelessly all through the game winning lots of dirty ball and setting up numerous scores. Charlie O’Connor and Lorcan Granby in the full forward line gave their all, creating havoc in the Whitescross defence and making sure the defence did not have a quiet morning.

Eirnan Wood and Jordan Halligan played their part when introduced, working really hard making sure their opponent’s did not get any easy ball. Thanks to all who came out to support the lads this morning. Great support as usual. Thanks to Whitescross for a great game of football.

U12 girls continue their unbeaten run in the league with good win over Ballygarvan

The U12 girls continued their unbeaten run in the league last night at home to a very spirited Ballygarvan side. The first half was a tight affair with Ballygarvan working hard and causing Passage a lot of problems. Goals from Roisin Hanlon and Emily Collier settled Passage and Danielle Price who led from the back was outstanding.

With 4 great points from Chloe Murray and 1 point each from Sarah Coughlan & Emily Collier, Passage went in at half time 2-5 to 2 points up.

The second half started brightly for Passage with a flurry of scores from Eva Barry (1-3), Roisin Hanlon (1-1), Alyssa O’Neill Ram (1-1) and 2 points from Sarah Hendrick, one of which would not have been out of place in Croke Park.

This was another accomplished performance from every one of our players with particularly strong performances from the back line who were under constant attack from Ballygarvan.

Passage finished on top and finished with a score line of 5-13 to Ballygarvan 1-2.

Well done girls 🟢⚪️

U16 Girls narrowly miss out on League Final

Our U16s took on table-toppers Macroom this evening in their league semi-final. Played in perfect conditions for football, Macroom were first off the mark with a goal and a point before a brace of points from Lucy Finlay on her first match back from injury. A goal just before the half time break saw Macroom lead by 5 points at the interval.

A third goal and a number of points saw Macroom extend their lead to 9 points before Passage dug deep and reduced the deficit to 2 points but unfortunately time was against them and Macroom ran out winners on a scoreline of 3-4 to 2-5. Hard luck to the girls who battled hard in a tough, physical match and thanks for the great support as always🟢⚪️

Great skill and Determination from our U12 Footballers V Carrigtwohill

Tonight the u12 boys played Carrigtwohill in a league football match. The Carrigtwohill boys showed great skill and team work and why they are unbeaten so far this season but the Passage lads matched them in every position, putting in an incredible performance, probably their best so far.

Padraig O’Driscoll scored the first score of the match putting the ball over the bar, Carrigtwohill followed with a point then a goal before Rob Allen scored point. Carrigtwohill scored two more points, when Rob scored a brilliant goal, unfortunately followed shortly after by point by Carrigtwohill, the half finished 1-2 to 1-4 for Carrigtwohill.

Padraig won the ball from the throw in, passed to an excellent Fionn Flaherty who after showing some unbelievable skill got the ball to waiting Tommy Coakley who buried the ball in the back of the net. Fionn followed this shortly after with his first point. Carrigtwohill then rallied and scored a goal then a point, but Fionn then scored a point from a free which evened the scoring. Carrigtwohill scored a point, but Rob scored another great goal, putting Passage ahead .

Sadly the lead didn’t last long as Carrigtwohill scored another point and then goal, before Fionn scored scored his third point, second from a free. Unfortunately Carrigtwohill scored a goal in the dying seconds of the match, making the final score more complementary than was evident on the pitch.

Every Passage player gave everything they had throughout the match, in goal Jake Ahern made some great saves and interceptions, in defense Cameron Lee and a man possessed Callum Carroll were resilient, upsetting many Carrigtwohill attacks. Half backs Oisin Quigley, Zak Long and Josh Hanna were ever bit as tenacious in help the backs and linking with the midfield of Fionn Flaherty and Padraig O’Driscoll who both worked tirelessly in winning ball and supplying the forwards.

The half forwards Tommy Coakley, Tiernan Mccarthy and Rory Walsh were all outstanding fighting for everything and not giving up on anything. Up front Rob Allen and Evan Clinton both fought hard and but for some great saves from the Carrigtwohill goalie might have notched more scores but battled against a very tough defence. Subs Lorcan Granby and Ryan Whyte both came on and showed the same grit and fight as the rest of the team.

All the lads played outstandingly, even gaining praise from the Carrigtwohill Management indicating that this was their hardest and toughest match so far.

Full Time score:

Passage 3-5

Carrigtwohill 4-7

U12 Ladies Footballers continue their unbeaten league run

Our U12s continued their unbeaten run in the league last Thursday night away to Grenagh. A tight game for the opening quarter; great defending from both teams meant nearly 15 minutes had elapsed before Passage registered the first point of the game. This settled the Passage girls and they found their rhythm. They pushed on to win on a scoreline of 3-12 to 1-2.

Our forwards Sarah Coughlan (1-2), Aoife O’ Driscoll, Isabelle Sjaellender (0-1), Emily Collier (0-1), Eva Barry (1-0), Chloe Murray (1-2), Hayley O’ Brien and Emilie Lenihan all put in a great shift. In midfield Sarah Hendrick (0-1) and Roisin Hanlon (0-5) ran themselves to a standstill with some fantastic passages of passing.

Our backs Maggie Murphy, Erin Duggan, Laylah Browne, Adisson Murphy, Sophie Lordan, Danielle Price, Grace Murray, Katie O’Herlihy and Amy Walsh were on top form and controlled every ball that came their way. Kerri Daly in goal made 2 great saves and her excellent kick-outs began many of Passage’s attacks. Well done to all involved. Next league match this Tuesday home to Ballygarvan at 6.30pm.🟢⚪️
