U16 Ladies Football Victorious in League play-off V St Finbarrs
Our U16s came out victorious in their league play-off after a pulsating battle with St Finbarrs this evening in Manning Park. St Finbarrs opened the scoring with an early goal before Elly Murphy pointed for Passage and then went ahead thanks to a Shannon Ryan goal; Shannon marking her return from injury with a great score. Passage pulled ahead and led for much of the first half, extending their lead to 9 points before the Barrs hit a purple patch and reduced the deficit to 2 points at half time; 3-6 to 3-4 in Passage’s favour.
The second half proved much tighter with the lead changing hands a number of times; both sides not giving an inch in a great physical battle. Passage took the lead by a single point in the final minutes and the defence stood resolute against the waves of St Finbarr’s attempts to equalise and bring the game to extra time. A fantastic result in front of a great home crowd. Final score Passage 3-11 St Finbarr’s 5-4. The girls now face Macroom in the league semi-final next week
