U12 Camogie – 28th April 2023
Passage 2-1 Bride Rovers 1-2
On Friday evening Passage U12s made the short journey to Rathcormac to take on Bride Rovers in the second round of the U12 camogie league. Bride Rovers opened the scoring with a goal after 16 minutes and followed up with a point 3 minutes later and were starting to build some momentum with Passage struggling briefly to get on the ball. The backs were working extremely hard at this point and did brilliantly to stop Bride Rovers from adding to their score. Róisín then scored a great point to finally get Passage on the board after 22 minutes.
Half time: Bride Rovers 1-1 Passage 0-1.
Passage were quicker out of the traps in the second half and were putting the Bride Rovers defence under great pressure. The pressure finally told and Eva Barry deservedly got the first goal after 5 minutes. A minute later Aisling Ní Shúilleabháin swept home another goal and Passage were now in front. Passage dominated the next 15 minutes but couldn’t add to the score with some goal-line clearances by Bride Rovers and narrow wides. At the other end the backs still weren’t giving the Bride Rovers forwards an inch and any ball that made it through was expertly dealt with by the captain on the night, Kerri. Bride Rovers finally got their only score of the half a point in the 2nd minute of added time. With points worth 2 there was now only the minimum between the teams, Passage 2-1 ( to Bride Rovers 1-2. Three more nervy minutes ensued but Passage held on for the win.
Another great team performance on a wet evening, especially in the second half with all 21 players getting game time and contributing to the performance.
A special mention must go to my player of the match, Emily Collier who was the stand-out player on the pitch in the second half.
